The fastest way to get to and around the Cinque Terre villages is by train. The Cinque Terre Express trains are running from March 16 until November 3, 2024. The regional trains run frequently, every 20 minutes, and stop in Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manaroila, Riomaggiorte and La Spezia. The regional trains also run between the five villages during winter once or twice an hour.

A one-way train ticket with Cinque Terre Express trains between any two stations vary based on when you are visiting (low, medium or peak season) from 5 to 10 euros for adults. Children aged 4-11 receive a 50% discount. In the following calendar you can find the category based on the travel date.

Low season - green: Adults €5 - Children €2,50
Medium season- yellow: Adults €8 - Children €4
Peak season - red: Adults €10 - Children €5

The Cinque Terre Card

If you are hiking the trails and wish to travel by train back and forth between the villages during your visit, the most convenient is to buy a Cinque Terre Treno MS Card.

The Cinque Terre Treno MS Card (trains + hiking trails) costs for adults, depending on the period of visit, from 19.50 euros to 32.50 euros per day, from 34 euros to 59 euros for 2 days and from 46.50 euros to 78.50 euros for 3 days. There are discounts for children, families and seniors over 70. In addition to the use of the paid hiking trails, the train card also includes unlimited train journeys on the regional trains on the Levanto - Cinque Terre - La Spezia route.

The summer season, from March 16 to November 3, is divided into three categories. See the following calendar.

Cinque Terre Trekking Card

The Cinque Terre Trekking Card includes:
- access to the two chargeable hiking paths (Monterosso - Vernazza - Corniglia, all other paths are free!)
- use of the buses within the park
- reduced entrance fee to museums in La Spezia

The Cinque Terre Trekking Card costs for one day 7.50 euros and for a two-day card 14.50 euros (adults). Children (4-11 years old) pay for a one-day card 4.50 euros and for a two-day card 7.20 euros. A one-day family ticket costs 19,50 euros.

In peak season the trekking card costs 15 euros/day and for a two-day card 29 euros (adults). For children (4-11 years old) a one-day card costs 9 euros and a two-day card costs 14.40 euros. A one-day family ticket costs 39,20 euros. The peak days for trekking are: March 30 and 31, April 1st, from April 25 to April 28, May 1st, May 31, June 1st and 2nd, from August 14 to August 18 and from November 1st to November 3rd.

You can buy the Trekking Card at the entrance of each path. Please note that there are 48 hiking trails, but only the trails Monterosso - Vernazza and Vernazza - Corniglia are subject to a fee, all other hiking trails are free.

Is it worth buying the Cinque Terre Train Card?
It depends on how many times you intend to use the trains between the villages in one day. If you plan to use the trains at least twice in a day and also want to hike one of the coastal paths, it is worth buying the Cinque Terre Train Card.
